Who We Are

Alexis Lieberman, M.D., Pediatrician

Dr. Lieberman has been a pediatrician since 1996, caring for babies, children and teens. A former Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, she brings an educator’s high standards, attention to detail, and in-depth inquiry to her practice. She loves the communication aspect of pediatrics, spending time with families and connecting with children.

In her former position, she taught dermatology to pediatricians in training, developed and published protocols for managing pediatric obesity, and researched and published on mental health issues in pediatrics. She has expertise in many behavioral aspects of pediatrics, including treating ADHD and sleep problems, as well as obesity.

Dr. Lieberman is also the former Director of Adolescent Programs at Albert Einstein Medical Center, and has expertise in the many issues faced by today’s teens, including menstrual issues, adolescent ADHD, adolescent depression and substance use. She welcomes teens and young adults to the practice!

Dr. Lieberman has a teen at home herself, and understands the challenges faced by parents. She is thrilled to be in her own practice at Fairmount Pediatrics, and looks forward to getting to know your family.

Barbara Weiss, M.D., Family Practice Physician

Dr. Weiss graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Sociology. She earned her M.D. degree at the Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel University College of Medicine), where she met Dr. Lieberman. She has been board certified in Family Medicine for more than 15 years. She was in private practice for 5 years, and most recently served for 10 years as a Primary Care clinician in the Student Health Service of the University of Pennsylvania. She has been part-time at Fairmount Pediatrics since 2012. Dr. Weiss has been living in Philadelphia for more than 25 years, and is the proud parent of 2 teenagers, 2 cats, and 1 dog.

Larah Kirschner, CRNP, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

Larah Kirschner, R.N., M.S.N., C.R.N.P., has been a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for nine years. Larah earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Columbia University and her masters in Pediatric Primary Care from the University of Pennsylvania. She started her career working in two pediatric primary care offices, one in Warminster, PA and the other in Narberth, PA. In 2011, Larah joined the Emergency Department at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and continues to practice there on a part-time basis. Larah’s expertise ranges from routine well child care to acutely ill patients. She is a certified SANE nurse (sexual assault nurse examiner).

Larah lives in Bala Cynwyd with her husband and three children, ages 10, 6 and 3. She looks forward to caring for your family.

Kristen Smith, PA-C, Physician Assistant

Kristen obtained a BA in Biomedical Engineering and a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at Drexel University. She began her career working in Abington Hospital’s Emergency Department and then transitioned fully to outpatient pediatrics in an underserved area of Philadelphia. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and has attended conferences on the local and national levels. Kristen was born and raised in Philadelphia and is the proud parent of a 3 year old daughter and one dog. She is pleased to return to the Fairmount area and looks forward to caring for your family.

Jackie Williams, Office Manager

Jackie comes to Fairmount Pediatrics with a wealth of experience, including work as a front desk manager for a large Orthopedics office. Her forte is efficiency, and her approach is flexible. Whether it’s getting a referral to a specialist at the last minute or arranging for the delivery of a nebulizer, Jackie is someone you can count on.

Amanda Zorrilla, Medical Assistant

Amanda is a local, living in Fairmount and bringing her bright smile to Fairmount Pediatrics. She has her own children, so she knows what’s needed when kids are nervous about a vaccine or a finger stick. She weighs and measures children, checks blood pressures, and provides immunizations, along with a kind or funny word.

Katrina Hamblin, Medical Assistant

Katrina graduated from ASA College in Brooklyn, New York, and has been a Medical Assistant since 2015. She has a great deal of compassion for children and even has three beautiful children of her own. In Katrina’s spare time she enjoys watching movies, cooking, traveling and music.

Shameka Richardson, Medical Assistant

Shameka has been doing medical assisting in pediatrics since graduating from ROSS Medical Technical School in 2011. Shameka has 5 wonderful children herself. She loves working with the children who make her day when she comes to work.
